Award-winning director Darryl Roberts, in a follow-up to “America The Beautiful”, raises the question, “Is America missing the mark in it’s fight against obesity and pursuit of thinness and causing collateral damage in the process?” Robert’s witty exploration of America’s obesity crises and our unhealthy obsession with dieting takes the audience on a journey through the pitfalls and triumphs with his own weight and health issues and into the lives of weight loss industry leaders and icons. The new film, “America the Beautiful 2: The Thin Commandments,”  reveals insidious factors contributing to America’s body dissatisfaction and pursuit of thinness.  Roberts uncovers the fact that in an instant, 29 million Americans became fat and dangerously obese… without taking a single bite of food. It was all the result of a decision to change BMI criteria, the national standard for obesity.  Furthermore, Roberts questions the widely believed concept that you have to be thin to be healthy. Audiences will be compelled to think twice as ATB 2 dives head-first into the multi-billion dollar wellness and weight loss industry to find out what American’s are willing to do to lose those extra pounds and why it may be backfiring, costing many their health in the process.

Castlewood Treatment Center is happy to help sponsor the premiere of this wonderfully eye opening movie coming to St. Louis. We invite all to come out and join us!

The reviews are pouring in … Rob Humanick from Slant Magazine suggests,
“With a budget and crew, this guy could give Michael Moore a run for his money.”

Lori D. Galperin, LCSW- Facilitating Self Compassion

Lori Galperin the Clinical Co-Director of Castlewood Treatment Center for Eating Disorders spoke at our Preferred Provider Conference regarding how therapists can facilitate the development of self compassion in their clients. We have provided below 2 short exerts from her talk. These segments help to convey some of Castlewood’s philosophy that early attachment with caregivers effects the development of how we view ourselves in the present. Lori beautifully discusses how we come to treat ourselves with disdain, and that ultimately finding ways to develop compassion for one’s self is the vehicle by which healing takes place.
