Castlewood Treatment Center is sponsoring the Columbia Missouri NEDA walk March 16, 2013.  Representatives from Castlewood and our alumni will be at the walk to provide information and resources to attendees regarding eating disorder treatment. Castlewood Alumni Raises Funds for ED Awareness

Matthew Ryd, a former client at Castlewood Treatment Center and musician extraordinaire uses his talents each year during National Eating Disorder Awareness Week to raise money for the National Eating Disorder Association (NEDA) and the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD). In previous years he has participated in various fundraisers including creating a video sharing his story with the world to bring awareness to men and eating disorders. Schema Therapy Training

Castlewood Treatment Center staff recently participated in training with George Lockwood on Scheme Therapy. The training was two days, Monday and Tuesday 1/28 and 1/29.  All of the therapy staff attended the training held at Castlewood. Schema Therapy was developed by Dr. Jeffrey E. Young for use in treatment of personality disorders and chronic Axis I disorders, such as when patients fail to respond or relapse after having been through other therapies (for example, traditional CBT). Eating Disorder symptoms appear to be on the rise among the college age group. Many students are unaware of the dangers of ED behaviors, others are unaware that treatment and therapy are available and can help. National Eating Disorder Awareness Week is February 24- March 2, 2013. One of the ways Castlewood Treatment Center plans to support ED awareness is through the Eating Disorder Coalition of Iowa Annual Conference. The conference will be held Saturday March 2, 2013 at Waukee High School from 9:00 am until 2:30.
