Treatment for Anorexia Nervosa

Each Anorexia Treatment Plan at Castlewood is Fully Customized

One of Castlewood’s core principles is to provide a highly individualized anorexia treatment plan for each client. Research shows that while the signs and symptoms of anorexia are clinically similar in many patients, the underlying reasons for this complex eating disorder are unique to each client. For this reason, we make sure that our customized treatment plan for anorexia effectively addresses the unique needs of each client. In addition to a carefully crafted anorexia treatment plan, our clinicians collaborate to adjust the plan as the client transitions through each level of care. Recovery is a very dynamic process, and requires a fluid care plan in order to be effective.

How Castlewood’s Clinicians Create an Effective Anorexia Treatment Plan

Each client at Castlewood works closely with a primary treatment team. The team is comprised of a licensed therapist, licensed dietitian, and a staff psychiatrist. During the intake period of treatment, and in the early stages of care, this core team takes the time to understand the physical and psychological history of the client. Family interviews are also done. Based on this initial information, the anorexia treatment plan is designed and implemented. Information is gained not just through brief questions or by merely filling out a few generic forms. The primary treatment team takes an active approach to listening and synthesizing the information that is said, and left unsaid, by the client. Each client and family are uniquely different, and deserve a treatment plan for anorexia that respects these differences. Co-occurring disorders and any chronic physical problems or disabilities are also evaluated and included in the anorexia treatment plan. At Castlewood, our clinicians spend a great deal of in-depth time with each client and family in this initial stage of treatment, because we feel it is critical to the overall effectiveness of recovery from anorexia and co-occurring issues. Each client has strengths and weaknesses. Castlewood helps clients utilize their individual strengths to help support the difficult periods that are to be expected during the recovery journey. Often during treatment the eating disorder behaviors improve, but co-occurring disorders may get worse. The anorexia treatment plan is adjusted to make sure that progress continues in a supported, progressive manner.
