Nancy Albus, M.Ed., LPC, NCC, CEDS — CEO & Therapist
Nancy Albus is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) with extensive training and more than a decade of experience in eating disorders, intimacy, relationships, family therapy and Internal Family Systems therapy. A member of the Castlewood Treatment Center team since 2002, Nancy has held several positions within the company including primary therapist, program director and executive director. She was named CEO in December 2012. As CEO, Albus is responsible for leading the nationally accredited treatment facility and its qualified, experienced treatment team. Albus will continue to leverage Castlewood’s esteemed reputation for helping people suffering from eating disorders transform to healthier lives. Under her direction, the center has expanded to include new treatment facilities in Monterey, California (Monarch Cove Treatment Center) and Birmingham Alabama (Highlands Treatment Center). In addition to her work with eating disorders, Nancy focuses on gender and sexuality issues and facilitates family week programming at Castlewood. She is a member of the Academy of Eating Disorders, the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals and the National Eating Disorder Association. Albus received her graduate degree in Counseling from the University of Missouri – St. Louis, completed business courses at Washington University and earned her undergraduate degree at Texas Christian University. Albus currently resides in Kirkwood with her husband and two daughters. She is very active in the community and has devoted time to DePaul Hospital Auxiliary, Rossman School Parents Club and Board, and the John Burroughs Parent Council. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling and is an accomplished golfer.
Andy Esterer — Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Esterer earned his Bachelors of Business Adminstration Degree in Finance at the University of Toledo and joined Castlewood in 2011. Prior to joining Castlewood, Mr. Esterer has 20 years of progressive management experience with the last 10 years dedicated to healthcare. Prior healthcare roles included serving as Divisional CFO for a large healthcare system with responsibility for the Medical Group, Mental Health, Home Care and Corporate Health businesses. At Castlewood, Mr. Esterer is responsible for operations of the Business Office including Billing and Contracting, IT, Human Resources and Facilities Management.
Jim Gerber, MA, ATR, Ph.D — Clinical Director & Primary Therapist
Dr. Jim Gerber is a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 20 years of experience working with adults and adolescents in a variety of clinical areas. He has been at Castlewood since 2003 and is currently the Clinical Director for all St. Louis based Castlewood Treatment Centers. As Clinical Director, he is responsible for maintaining and developing Castlewood’s high quality of clinical work, as well as supervising the nationally recognized treatment team. In addition, he will continue to provide individual and group therapy to clients and follow the progress of all clients undergoing treatment at the St. Louis facilities. Dr. Gerber received his PhD in counseling and family therapy from St. Louis University and completed his Master’s degree in art therapy and counseling at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. Dr. Gerber understands the complexities of eating disorders and has lectured across the country on a variety of topics related to the disease. Cara Faries, MA, LPC- Clinical Director Intensive Outpatient Services
Cara has been on staff at Castlewood since 2004 and has held various positions: Primary Therapist, Senior Primary therapist of IOP, and currently Clinical Director of the Intensive Outpatient Program. Cara is trained in the Internal Family Systems Model. She has 15 years of experience working with individuals, families, and couples. Ms. Faries has specialized training in body image and body movement, and has worked extensively with a variety of mental health issues including: trauma, eating disorders, addictions, depression, anxiety, and sexual dysfunction. Ms. Faries holds a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Webster University in Missouri.
Dr. Dawn M. Holemon, M.D. — Medical Director & Psychiatrist
Dr. Dawn Holemon graduated from St. Louis University School of Medicine and completed her residency in Psychiatry at Washington University in St. Louis. She is Board Certified in Psychiatry and Neurology and has been in private practice of psychiatry since 1986. Dr. Holemon began working at Castlewood Treatment Center with the opening of Castlewood II in June 2010. Her experience has been in the areas of adolescent psychiatry, anxiety disorders and mood disorders, with an interest in medication as an adjunct to a strong therapy-based treatment plan. She has enjoyed becoming a part of the Castlewood treatment team for this reason.
Dr. M.Asif Qaisrani, M.D., MPH- Psychiatrist
Dr. M. Asif Qaisrani graduated from King Edward Medical University in Pakistan. He then completed his Masters in Public Health from University of Leeds in England. He did his residency training at the St. Louis University School of Medicine. He is Board Certified in Psychiatry and Neurology and has been in the practice area of psychiatry since 2001. He has an academic affiliation with The Department of Psychiatry and Neurology at St. Louis University School of Medicine as Assistant Clinical Professor. Dr. Qaisrani began working at Castlewood Treatment Center in August 2012. His experience has been in the areas of eating disorders, addiction psychiatry, anxiety disorders and mood disorders. He has expertise in psychopharmacology as a teacher and a prescriber. He has special interest in medication education and motivational therapy with focus on developing a partnership with clients in fostering health and recovery. He believes in comprehensive therapy based treatment planning and a team approach. He decided to join Castlewood Treatment Center for this reason.
Dr. Kevin Miller, M.D. — Psychiatrist
Dr. Miller is Board Certified in Psychiatry, earned his medical degree and completed his residency in psychiatry at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, followed by a two-year NIMH research and clinical fellowship in mood disorders at the Yale University School of Medicine. He returned to Castlewood I in 2012 as our Psychiatrist, having served as Castlewood’s second Medical Director in our early years when Castlewood only had one facility. He has served on the faculty of three medical schools, lectured widely in the professional community about psychotropic medications, published articles in national professional journals, and been accepted as an expert witness in state and federal courts. In addition to his skills in medication management, Dr. Miller has special experience and interest in eating disorders, chemical dependency, and psychological trauma. His professional time outside of Castlewood is spent in private practice.
Emily Williams, MA, LPC — Program Director, Therapist
Ms. Williams earned her Master’s degree in clinical psychology from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in Springfield, MO. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and is currently Program Director and a primary therapist at Castlewood Treatment Center. Ms. Williams has experience in treating Eating Disorders, PTSD, Dissociative Identity Disorder, depression, and anxiety, among many other psychiatric disorders. In therapy, she utilizes Internal Family Systems, interpersonal therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and psychodynamic modalities. Ms. Williams also has experience facilitating therapeutic groups such as anger management, relapse prevention, eating disorder, trauma, and community process groups.
Jada Holmes, MSHM- Program Director
Jada earned her Master’s degree in Health Management from Lindenwood University in Saint Charles, MO. She completed research on the topic of obesity in minority populations while obtaining her Master’s degree. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Missouri St. Louis. Jada has completed level I training in the Internal Family Systems model of therapy. She has been employed with Castlewood since 2007 in various capacities as the Step Down Coordinator, Programs Manager, Asst. Program Director and now as the Program Director of Castlewood I. Jada’s current focus in research and community activism is on promoting eating disorder awareness in minority populations.
Kevin McCulloch, M.Ed, PLPC — Program Director: Step Down
Mr. McCulloch has a Master’s of Education in professional counseling, a Bachelor’s of Science in business administration, and a Bachelor’s of Arts in international studies. He is a provisionally licensed professional counselor. Kevin has worked at Castlewood since 2010 as a Primary therapist and now as the Program Director of the Step Down Program. Kevin has specialized training in mindfulness and meditation and incorporates this into his approach to therapeutic healing. He currently facilitates various groups at Castlewood including core group, eating disorder group, spirituality group, meditation and awareness cultivation.
Heidi Strickler, Ph.D, LCSW, CEDS, CART, CTLS- Admin. Director of Intensive Outpatient Services
Dr. Strickler obtained her Bachelors of Arts degree from the Millersville University in Psychology. She went on to obtain her Masters of Science in Social Work and Doctorate of Philosophy in Social Work from the University of Texas in Arlington. Dr. Strickler is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Eating Disorders Specialist, Certified Anger Resolution Therapist, and Certified Trauma and Loss Specialist. She has worked at Castlewood Treatment Center since 2011 at various levels of care including residential treatment, day treatment, stepdown, and intensive outpatient. Currently, Dr. Strickler is the Administrative Director and a primary therapist of the Intensive Outpatient Program. She incorporates experiential therapies, family work, internal family systems therapy and cognitive behavioral therapies in her approach to therapeutic healing. Dr. Strickler specializes in the treatment of eating disorders, trauma based disorders and family dynamic issues. She is a member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals. She has been a therapist for over 12 years. Dr. Strickler is on Castlewood’s Research and education committee and her current areas of interest in research are eating disorders and trauma.
Hallie Metzler — Vice President of Marketing
Hallie Metzler has over 11 years of sales and marketing experience in the health care field specifically focused on behavioral heath and drug and alcohol addictions. In 2007 she helped her husband launch, OneHealth which is a behavior change company that drives member engagement to improve health outcomes and reduce the cost of care, and was nominated for the Athena Pinnacle Award in 2012 for her work. She is the founder of a non-profit called, I AM which provides tools, accountability and mentorships, to individuals struggling with an eating disorder, and created an innovative approach for eating disorder patients combining social media and peer accountability. “I joined the Castlewood team, because I wanted to give back what was freely given to me: recovery. My great-grandmother was anorexic, my grandmother struggled with body image issues, my sister was hospitalized and treated for anorexia and bulimia, and I’m in recovery. I wanted to stop the cycle for my niece and my future children.”
Deana Wilson, MBA- Director of Intake
Deana obtained her Bachelors of Science and later earned her Masters of Business Administration at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Deana has many years of experience in business development, marketing and healthcare administration. She has previously worked in administration for The Renfrew Center, and most recently as a Regional Outreach Manager at Rosewood Centers for Eating Disorders. Castlewood is delighted to have someone with Deana’s experience and commitment to the field of eating disorders join our team. In her role as Director of Intake she leads the intake department at Castlewood Treatment Centers, overseeing clients’ care from initial inquiries to admittance to ensure the highest level of service and satisfaction. Her other duties include building client relationships and increasing awareness of Castlewood’s experienced treatment team and nationally accredited treatment programs.
Annalee Plumb, LPC, NCC, CADC — Director of UR
Ms. Plumb obtained her Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology and her Master of Arts degree in Counseling, both from Lindenwood University in St. Louis, Missouri. Annalee is a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, Certified Alcohol and Other Drugs of Addiction Counselor, a Medication Assisted Recovery Specialist and a Clinical Supervisor for CADC. Prior to working at Castlewood, Annalee worked at Bridgeway Behavioral Health as the director of the Intensive Outpatient Program in Warren County and Drug Court Treatment Liaison. Annalee has worked for Castlewood since October 2010 as a utilization review specialist and now as the Director of Utilization Review. She also facilitates individual consults and group therapy for clients with co-occurring chemical dependency diagnoses at our St. Louis locations. Read more
Jodi Seidel, MA — Asst. Program Director Castlewood I
Ms. Seidel obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Maryville University, St. Louis with a double major in Psychology & Sociology. She later obtained her Masters of Arts degree from Lindenwood University in Professional Counseling. Ms. Seidel has completed training in Crisis Intervention, and Internal Family Systems Level I. She joined the Castlewood team in June 2011, and in addition to her position as Assistant Program Director she leads various groups including expressive therapy, process groups, core groups and skill training modules. Ms. Seidel has a deep appreciation for Castlewood’s approach to the healing process and believes our compassionate team of skilled professionals works to empower our clients mind, body and spirit.
Rebecca Baker, M.Ed, LPC- Asst. Program Director Castlewood II
Ms. Baker obtained her Bachelors of Arts from University of Missouri in psychology with a minor in sociology. She went on to pursue her Masters of Education in Counseling and Family therapy from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Ms. Baker is a licensed professional counselor who has worked at Castlewood Treatment Center since 2008. Ms. Baker has completed level I training in Internal Family Systems model of therapy. Ms. Baker incorporates cognitive behavioral therapies, Internal Family Systems, experiential therapies and family therapy in her work at Castlewood. Ms. Baker is a the Assistant Program Director and a primary therapist at Castlewood II.
Bryan Mitra- Executive Chef
Executive Chef Bryan Mitra is a graduate of New England Culinary Institute in Vermont and studied at the renowned Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners (ICIF) in Costigliole d’Asti, Italy. Chef Bryan joined the team at Castlewood Treatment Center in 2011 and enjoys using his passion for cooking to help heal people. Prior to Castlewood, Chef Bryan held many prestigious positions including working under White House Executive Chef Pierre Chambrin at the St. Louis Club, working under Master Chef Aidan Murphy at Old Warson Country Club, and running the kitchens at the Legends Country Club and Lumen Event Catering.
