Castlewood Eating Disorder Treatment Center Blog

Learning to Give Back

Looking back from our 15th anniversary since opening, we are grateful to see the impact developing effective treatment and promoting recovery and advocacy has had in the eating disorder community. Through innovative techniques and dedication to understanding and enhancing treatment, Castlewood has become a leader in the field of eating disorder recovery. Through ongoing commitment to research and our strength for leadership, advocacy and collaboration have been vital aspects of our progress. As part of reaching out to preferred providers across the country, Castlewood has offered monthly webinars providing quality continuing education. The webinars are similar to seminars, transmitted through our websites and aimed at sharing knowledge and staying connected with others in the eating disorder community. Castlewood began this outreach before many in the field were aware of the possibilities, and have continued to make these efforts free and easily accessible. This effort to reach out to the community of recovery has been extended through our work with non-profits and collaborations with campaigns for recovery and positive body image. Castlewood participates in talks at local schools, encouraging awareness and prevention education. Research and education has also been the backbone of affiliation with NEDA and ANAD, offering assistance and information whenever needed. Treatment scholarships have been offered as well, for individuals who need treatment but might otherwise not be able to afford it. The #NoFilter campaign has been significantly important in spreading awareness about positive body image and embracing authentic beauty. In partnering with The Alliance for Eating Disorder Awareness Castlewood’s has had the opportunity to collaborate and promote the #NoFilter campaign. Castlewood has participated with The Alliance’s annual “Celebrate Everybody” walk, and has also hosted an annual Golf Tournament. Participating with others in the community and taking the time to give back have been milestones on a journey of becoming a center for excellence. Castlewood Treatment Center’s ongoing dedication to outreach and advocacy signal a strong future for the next 15 years in eating disorder recovery. We will be celebrating this special event all month long, with this special blog series about how far Castlewood has come in 15 years. How far have you come in your recovery?
