Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee Annual Conference

Castlewood will be participating in the upcoming EDCT Conference, called the Annual Forum for Professionals. The conference will be held October 24-25, in Nashville, Tennessee. We are proud to once again be a part of this event, which aims to educate and create awareness about eating disorders. The Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee (EDCT) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of eating disorder awareness, education and prevention. The organization provides hope and support to those who are affected by eating disorders, and education to providers and other professionals who work in the eating disorder treatment field. Castlewood is once again a proud sponsor of the EDCT conference, and we will have an exhibit booth at the event. We will also host two presentations at the conference. The Clinical Director of our St. Louis facility, Dr. Jim Gerber, will present on the importance of family involvement in therapy. At Castlewood, we welcome family members into treatment to be a part of the healing process, and we provide family therapy to work with each family member during treatment. We believe it is important to not just focus on the client, but to work with the family and help them create a connection that extends beyond the eating disorder. Also presenting on our behalf at the EDCT conference will be Dr. Nicole Siegfried, Clinical Director of Monarch Cove Treatment Center in California. Dr. Siegfried will present on the topic of resiliency. While many treatment approaches only treat the negative symptoms of eating disorders, there is much more to the person than the disorder. Dr. Siegfried will talk about ways treatment providers can identify and build on clients' fundamental core strengths.
The EDCT annual conference is always an enlightening experience. We look forward to sharing our knowledge about the treatment of eating disorders, as well as connecting with and learning from others in the treatment field.
