September 24-28: Weight Stigma Awareness Week
CALL TO ACTION
The second annual Weight Stigma Awareness Week is September 24 – September 28th. As a board member of the Binge Eating Disorder Association, and co-chairman of this year’s Weight Stigma Awareness Week, I invite you, your colleagues and clients to participate in the week’s events. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved and become a part of the conversation around issues related to weight stigma as it pertains to all of the issues that those with eating disorders struggle with.
The call-to-action for this event can be found at BEDA’s Website. We are also accepting blog submissions that tell about activities, successes and stories of weight stigma. This is accessed by going to www.weightstigmaawareness.com and click on “submit your work”. The call to action has activities planned for each day with requests for artwork, writings, and poetry. In addiction there will be blog carnivals throughout the week. Please assist me in spreading the word online by twitter- #weightstigma, facebook, and by talking about it through linkedin and blogging.
Sincerely,
Theresa Chesnut, LCSW
