Complex Trauma and Treatment of Addictive Behavior

Castlewood recently hosted a conference to a capacity crowd in Monterey, California entitled Complex Trauma and Treatment of Addictive Behavior. Speakers included, Dr. Bessel Van der Kolk, Dr. Mark Schwartz, Dr. Richard Schwartz, Ms Lori D. Galperin, LCSW,  Dr. Marc Gafni, and Ms. Laura Wood, LPC.

Approximately 150 clinicians from across California attended the conference hosted at the Embassy Suites Seaside. Lectures discussed topics related to the treatment of Eating Disorder, sexual compulsivity and other process addictions. Interventions and theories such as attachment theory, Unique Self, Internal Family Systems Theory,  and Drama Therapy were explored by the speakers. The focus was on understanding Eating Disorders and Addictions as attachment disorders through the lens of complex trauma.

Attendees gave the conference rave reviews, saying that this was a “great conference at a reasonable rate.” One participant said ” I was very impressed with your work with clients- the comprehensive approach and skills level of the presenters- I got a lot more than I expected!” Attendees shared that registration and organization of the conference was the best they had experienced and made the process easy on participants.
